This weekend Craig and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. I cannot express how thankful I am to have Craig as my best friend and my daily partner in life!
A lot has happened in 5 years… a masters degree, more than 5 jobs, 3 apartments/condos, 2 states, a few awesome vacations, and a cute dog. 🙂
To celebrate, we headed downtown to Karyn’s on Green.
Karyn’s on Green is known for being ‘contemporary, stylish & vegan,’ and I have to say that it lives up to it’s description!
The space is clean, calming and welcoming. Above the bar there is an artistic wall painting that says “There is no judgement here.” This may seem like a funny thing to post on the wall of a fancy restaurant, but it is true! A lot of vegetarian or vegan restaurants can be a little intimidating — either because the servers or the diners have that vibe about them of being better than everyone else. This place is just the opposite. Our server didn’t mind that we shared a few small plates, he answered every question that we had, and he encouraged us to take our time.
To start, we shared a kale salad with shaved vegetables, apples, cashews and a homemade sesame dressing. This was my favorite course of the entire dinner — the flavors were delicious!
Next we had the veggie sliders. They came with a spicy tomato jam, and they had a nice kick!
Last, we tried a funny vegan dish — chicken with cheesy grits and green veggies. If you are a vegetarian I’m sure you understand what a treat it is to go to a restaurant and be able to order anything on the menu! We usually don’t love something trying to mimic the flavors of meat, but we figured that Karyn’s would be the place to try this type of dish. It was good, but I think the first two dishes were better. 🙂
We had a wonderful dinner! The atmosphere was perfect, the food was unique & the company was fun. I’m so thankful for Craig, and I’m excited for all that is to come!
