MI Weekend / Art Prize

We enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend in Michigan!

In addition to soaking in one last weekend at the cottage, we also wanted to check out Art Prize in Grand Rapids!

Art Prize is a public art contest that takes over downtown Grand Rapids for several weeks.  This year there are over 1500 pieces of artwork on display in restaurants, museums, hotels, on the street, up in the air, and even in the water, and the winner (voted for by anyone over 16) will receive $200,000.  Pretty amazing!

Here are just a few of the pieces that we saw on Saturday:

And our favorite, made of jellybeans:

If you live anywhere close to Grand Rapids, go and check out Art Prize!  It was a fun way to explore the area and we were so inspired by the creativity that surrounded us!

We also made a quick stop at Tree Huggers.

Craig’s sister showed us around town and brought us to Brewery Vivant — a cozy brewery in an old church!

Their garlic fries and craft beers really hit the spot.

Sunday we enjoyed quality family time and more good food.

I love relaxing weekends, but even more than that I love when a weekend energizes you for the week ahead.  We left Michigan feeling refreshed, inspired and thankful!

  1. Glad you had a good weekend! Art Prize looks really cool. I wonder how many hours it took the artist to put together the jelly bean artwork?
In Wheaton,IL there’s a really good restaurant/bar called The Ivy that is an old converted church.
